Peter Webb

Venue 9

Peter Webb's work is an exploration of ideas reflecting, and working, with the natural characteristics of earth and clay, and marks that appear naturally rather than imposing marks on the clay. None of the work is intended to be functional, but rather ornamental or sculptural.

A particular inspiration for him are the natural earth strata in cliffs and rock outcrops such as found on Dartmoor, coastlines and other landscapes - dramatic and not 'chiselled' by human hand - more the force of nature.

He embrace the Japanese concept of 'wabi-sabi' which teaches the acceptance of imperfection and the appreciation of the beauty in that imperfection.
