Ceramics

Lucy Winch is a scientist and ceramicist who has been making functional stoneware ceramics for over 25 years.
A thoughtful, contemplative artist, drawn to cool and warm palettes and an Eastern Asian aesthetic, Lucy is fascinated by the emotional and physical response each piece can evoke in the viewer.
Lucy makes her own glazes and enjoys researching, understanding and teaching glaze and throwing techniques from her own and other studios in Bristol and further afield. She has recently given two webinar workshops on glazes theory and practice for Westcountry Potters Association.
Lucy has had a love of Korean and Japanese ceramics for many years and is inspired by Japanese craftsmanship in cabinetry, fabric design and natural dyeing techniques using indigo. She has recently been exploring traditional English slipware ceramics which can be seen in her new work.
