Lamp work glass. I make small glass animals

Lampwork is a fabulous small scale hot glass process, melting coloured rods of glass in a bunsen burner size flame and forming shapes on a steel rod.
I started by making beads and then experimented making little animals. These are fun to design and make and so far the menagerie has reached 40 approximations of species. They come nestled in sawdust in a little box and are known as ‘A friend in a box’. In addition to beads and animals I make buttons and badges.
For many years I taught lampwork at Creative Glass Guild. I was also a bead demonstrator for Trollbeads - travelling to jewellery shops around the country with a portable set- up making bespoke beads for the customers.
