Acrylic & mixed media painting

Jonny’s colourful, expressive abstract paintings are all developed from sketches made on site. He loves being outdoors especially in West Cornwall, motivated and energised by the stormy seas and ever changing landscape surrounding him.

Inspired by these sketches in his studio, he instinctively adds colour, shapes, and marks to the work, building the finished piece step by step. Each layer informing the next, like a palimpsest of energy.

Artists such as Matisse, Dufy, Diebenkorn, and Lanyon are his main influences. During the past 20 years, he has earned increasing success as an artist, having had many successful exhibitions in the South West.
