Margaret Crump
Ceramics
Margaret has had many years’ experience making sculptural and functional hand-built ceramics. She has taught the subject to GCSE and A Level students and has been helping adults to enjoy making pottery at Bristol Folk House since 2006.
Texture, contrast and satisfying, dramatic form are the hallmarks of her work. From hand-sized pinchpots and charming modelled animals to large coiled ‘statement’ vases and planters, her work is suitable for home or garden display. She carefully hand-builds stoneware clay forms, scraping and shading them with oxides and ceramic stains to create a natural surface contrasting with glazed areas of surprisingly rich and colourful hues. Their textured surfaces and rounded, full forms invite touching!
