I am a ‘self-taught’ artist. Painting holidays, inspiring books and friends, all act as “idea-factories” and influence my work.
Inspired by my travels, I absorb the atmosphere, take sketchbook notes & use these with my photographs to develop paintings. All one-off originals, my paintings are a labour of love and hours of mindfulness. Most watercolour paintings take me around a month to complete, with slow colour-layering to achieve saturation and the desired texture of rope, rust, pebble, glass, fabric or whatever the subject is.
I work mostly in watercolour but also experiment with other media. Vibrant colours, textures & attention to detail gives me a real buzz. Painting is actively pursued for the joy & fulfilment it provides and is part of a personal journey. I would like the viewer to share the feeling that art is my happy.
