Printmaker, Relief and Intaglio
As a printmaker, Wenda Bartlett uses both relief and intaglio to depict movement and patterns in nature and uses bold contrasting colours in order to achieve this. She explores this theme in rock formations, tides, waves and animals. The contrasts can be seen in the shifting tides or deep cut rocks contrasting with a distant still horizon or resting seabirds on the beach in front of a churning sea. Woodcuts, lino cuts, etching, and collagraph have been used as methods to achieve these effects.
